Vintage Wedding Venues in Toronto

Congratulations – you’re planning your wedding! One of the most important decisions you’ll make will be choosing a venue for the celebration. Today’s brides and grooms often prefer to hold their wedding ceremony and festivities in a vintage or heritage venue. An historic site adds a great deal of atmosphere to any event, and signifies the couple’s connection to the past as well as their promise for the future. Fortunately, Toronto boasts many beautiful historic sites for a wedding. Choosing the one that’s right for your special day can be exciting.

A Grand Affair

One historic venue in the city that offers an extraordinary experience for both you and your guests is the Eglinton Grand, formerly the Eglinton Theatre.
This beautiful Art Deco event space is a past winner of the "Bride’s Choice Award” and a jewel in the heart of the city. Located in Forest Hill at Eglinton Avenue West and Avenue Road, the Eglinton Theatre was built in the 1930s and opened to great acclaim in 1936. The lobby featured sparkling chandeliers, original murals, plush furniture, and a fireplace. The 800-seat theatre was graced with richly-coloured fabrics, and golden statues of goddesses. Even the bathrooms were luxurious, with gilded mirrors, spacious dressing room areas, and ornate sink fixtures.
For many years, the Eglinton Grand was known as the "Show Place of Toronto”. Built in classic Art Deco style, its soaring marquee became a landmark in the neighbourhood.
The theatre was important to the history of film in Toronto. Over the years, the Eglinton Theatre developed a philosophy of showing popular movies for the neighbourhood as well as lesser-known films for film buffs. World records for attendance were set at the Eglinton, including the incredible 144-week run of The Sound of Music!
The advent of the multiplex cinema led to the decline of the theatre, but fortunately the Dynamic Hospitality and Entertainment company saw the building’s potential. After the theatre closed in 2002, Dynamic restored the building to its former grandeur and reopened it as an events venue.

Perfect Hospitality

Today the Eglinton Grand combines the beauty of 1930s Art Deco surroundings with professional full-service events catering and state-of-the-art audio-visual capability. Friendly and efficient staff will help you choose the right package or combination of services for your special day.
The Eglinton Grand is renowned for its extensive and impressive menu, which includes a wide range of options, and the facility maintains a full in-house kosher kitchen.
